ROM - vz. 93 (98 mm horská houfnice)

98 mm obuzier de munte model 1993
98 mm obuzier de munte model 1993 "Bucegi"

Brief history
In the 1990s, the Romanian arms manufacturer Arsenal Resita developed a mountain howitzer, which appears in foreign materials in two different calibers.

Type A 475 - 100 mm calibre mountain howitzer
Type A 684 - 98 mm calibre mountain howitzer

Resita tried for several years to break into foreign markets with the Type 684. The gun was offered at a price of $430,000 each. Now it is not included in the offer of Romanian exporters.

The howitzer described here was designed in the new "European" 98 mm calibre. The howitzer can be disassembled into several parts for transport on horseback. For easier handling in mountainous terrain, the gun's chassis was equipped with additional hand brakes. For mototraction the smallest possible length was required, therefore the support arms of the gun are equipped with a pin for easy folding.
