9N349 Motiv-3M ( 9Н349 Motiv-3M) - element of cluster ammunition (bomblet) with anti-tank effect. Also referred to as SPBE-D ( It was created by modernizing the Motiv-3 bomblet developed by the Bazalt design office in the late 1980s for airborne cluster bombs. The main difference compared to Motiv-3 is the absence of a separate "command" bomblet, which provided a remote launch of a scattered set of "combat" bomblets at the prescribed height. The development and miniaturization of electronics in the early 90's of the 20th century made it possible to integrate a simple radar altimeter directly into the control part of a combat bomblet without changing its dimensions or increasing weight.
It acts on the targets from above at an angle of 30 °. The element is scattered on a parachute after scattering and automatically searches for and targets a potential target using a dual-band infrared sight at an angle of 30 °. The combat part of the bomblet then pierces the armor with a thickness of up to 70 mm from a height of about 100 m. It achieves the best results when used in open terrain against columns or assemblies of combat equipment, in wooded terrain, the probability of detecting and destroying the target is greatly reduced. Its use in cities is prohibited.
