Luftwaffe přidělila divizi důstojníky a mužstvo z létajících posádek (jejichž eskadry byly zrušeny v důsledku nedostatku letadel), Wehrkreis II přispěl záložními jednotkami z pomořanských posádek. výstavba divize probíhala v týlových oblastech 11. Armee a později 3. Pz.Armee .
General d. Fallsch.Tr.
Divize obdržela obranné úseky G a H v severní části Berlína za svou bojovu oblast a v následných dnech bránila severovýchodní předměstí říšského hlavního města proti útočícím tankovým svazkům Rudé armády. Fallsch.Jäg.D v Berlíně až do 2.května 1945 než město kapitulovalo.

9. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division

The division was formed in December 1944 in the Szczecin area under the command of General Bruno Bräuer as one of the last parachute divisions of Nazi Germany. It was mainly made up of the remnants of Luftwaffe aviation personnel. As such, it had no parachute training, which was terminated in mid-1944. In practice, it functioned as an "infantry" division. In January 1945, the division was moved to Breslau(Wroclaw. Where, after fierce fighting with the Red Army, two battalions of the division were completely destroyed. By the beginning of April 1945, the division was already weakened from its original strength of 11600 men to 8000 men.On 15 April 1945, before the offensive on Berlin, the division numbered 6758 men. In the Battle of the Seelow Heights(1945) , which the division was also present. On 16 April 1945, the division buckled under heavy artillery fire from Marshal Zhukov's 1st Belorussian Front. On the morning of 17 April when, the division receives some armored support it nevertheless collapses again. Afterwards, the division commander Bräuer suffers a nervous breakdown and is replaced by a new commander, Colonel Harry Herrmann, at Hermann Göring's request, who remains the commander until the division is disbanded on 2 May 1945. On 19 April 1945, the remnants of the division were inside the outer defensive perimeter of the Berlin U-bahn. On the night of May 1-2, the remnants of the division attempted to attack Spandau Town Hall, which housed a Soviet machine gun nest that decimated German troops trying to escape to Havel via the Charlottenbrücke. By the end of May 2, 1945, the division was completely dispersed. After the war, General Bräuer faced charges by the Greek courts for his involvement in the 1941 atrocities against Crete. He was sentenced to death in December 1946 and executed on 20 May 1947, the anniversary of the Axis invasion of Crete. Colonel Harry Herrmann was captured at the Battle of Berne(1945) and was released from Soviet captivity in 1955. In 1957 he joined the Bundeswehr from which he retired in 1967 as Colonel and Deputy Commander of the 1st Luftlande-Division and Commander of the Luftlande-Lufttransportschule Altenstadt. He died on 12 March 1995.
