Non-contact mine AMD-500, AMD-1000

This mine was developed by a team of designers Matveyev, Ejgenbprd, Budylin and Timakov and test technicians Skvorcov and Suchorukov at the VMS Torpedo Research Institute. They were awarded the title of Stalin Prize Laureate for their work on the AMD-1000 and AMD-500 mines.

It is a non-contact mine weighing 500 kg (AMD-500), respectively. 1000 kg (AMD-1000).

The mine was equipped with an induction two-channel lighter.

The sensitivity of the lighter ensured ignition from the electromagnetic field of the vessel at a depth of 30 m.

The charge provided sufficiently significant damage to a distance of 50 m (AMD500, I have no data on the effectiveness of the AMD-1000).

The mine could be launched from surface vessels, submarines and aircraft.
