Radar system the AN/TPN-18
is a lightweight, tactical ground-based radar, transportable helicopters, a transport plane or truck.
The system can be mounted on trailers, thus allowing full mobility in the area of combat activities.
(RL assy, AN/TPN-18 is usually part of the signalling and control system for air traffic control and landing of the AN/TSQ-71A and AN/TSQ-72).
The system provides three basic functions:
- An overview of the planes/helicopters in the area of the airport or heliport (SAR)
- monitoring and tracking the position and identification of aircraft/helicopters
- the exact landing approach (GCA / PAR).
