It was established by the decree of the President of the PR in exile in London 3.June 1945. Was awarded only to members of the Polish ground troops in the west for exemplary service in the time of 2.sv.war. The medal could be awarded a total of four times and counted the time of the service from 1.9.1939.

In times of PLR medal was not officially recognised, only 16.10.1992 was recognized as a military state award and at the same time, it terminated his award..
