It is a "dual band" radio station, allowing radio communication: - on frequencies in the I. air band (100,000-149,999 MHz) a - on frequencies in Air Band II (220,000-399,999 MHz)

It was also fitted to L-39 aircraft of some series (then replaced by the LPR-80 type) and was also used at ATC stations.
