Batalion saperów typ II/Engineer Battalion Type II
Engineer Battalion Type II - Engineer Battalion Type II

As a wartime engineer troop body, it was formed in an alert or general mobilization and was included in the division's lineup as a battlefield engineer support instrument.
The battalions were divided into three sub-types, differing in organizational structure and equipment:
Type II Engineer Battalion - with a full complement of resources for waterborne fighting as well as barrage and destruction tasks. The engineer company-infantry was equipped with vehicles with pneumatic tires, which allowed a rapid change from hypomobile to automobile traction. The motorized engineer company was of the lightweight type and had smaller numbers than the motorized company of the Type I engineer battalion. The engineer column was hypomobile. The bridge platoon was equipped with the means to build a pontoon bridge 45 m long and with a load capacity of up to 4 tons. The motorized company had 3500 kg of explosives, 180 anti-tank mines and 800 hulls for their production.

The Engineer Battalion Type IIa - one infantry company was equipped with vehicles with tires and the other company with vehicles with steel wheel hoops. The motorised company was of the light type. The engineer column had a variable number of motorized and hypomobile vehicles. It also had an infantry pontoon squad for tackling watercourses.

The Type IIb Engineer Battalion - both engineer infantry companies were equipped with steel wheel hoop wagons, had no motorised engineer company and no anti-gas platoon. The engineer column did not have the means to tackle watercourses. As a whole it was hypomobile. The engineer infantry companies were tabulated at 52 horses each. The exact number of draft horses in the entire battalion is unknown, but some sources give as many as 250 horses.
