Kampfgruppe Von Tettau was formed 17.9.1944 in the field of Arnhem as a response to the airdrop of british paratroopers in operation Market-Garden. The group commander was appointed lieutenant general Hans von Tettau, which at that time, he served on the staff of the Headquarters of the armed forces of the Netherlands as the head of the department for training. The group about the strength of the division was made up of members of the enlisted and the police school of the SS at Arnhem and more than 10 variety of replenishment, training and detention services.
Of the more than 3,000 members of the group during the battle of Arnhem 130 soldiers fell, 320 were captured and 750 wounded.
