Selected trends in global security
Introduction The organization of international relations is currently being transformed. After the end of the bipolar world, the United States remained the main pole. The US hegemonic position is now weakening and new regional powers are emerging. The BRIC countries are most often mentioned in this context. So far, thanks to its economic potential, China is gaining ground. Over time, however, the pace of economic and population growth will slow, and India, which has not only economic but also innovation potential, could gradually take over. Russia has to cope with a population decline and domestic political reforms, but its large resource base gives it a chance to become a Eurasian power, and thus a kind of bridge between Europe and Asia.
