Colonel in memoriam (Flight Lieutenant) Bernat Jozef


* 21. 08. 1915 Kojice district Kolín,
+ 30. 05. 2000 Watton, Nottinghamshire, Great Britain.


1933 - 1935 - School for the professional development of aviation in Prostejov,
1935 - served in the 1st Air Regiment in Prague-Kbely,
1937 - instrument flying course and at night,
June 26, 1939 - he fled to Poland and subsequently joined the French Foreign Legion,
October 1939 - course at Avord Air Base, later Istres and Chateauroux,
07. 07. 1940 - leaves for Great Britain,
29. 07. 1940 - in the rank of Sergeant member 311. MS. bomber squadron in the RAF,
February 10, 1941 - the first combat flight as the second pilot raid on Hanover,
April 28, 1941 - first pilot,
completed 39 bombing raids,
1941 promoted to Pilot Officer,
later he was a pilot's instructor,
30. 05. and 01. 06. 1942 raid on Cologne and Essen,
He was later a flying teacher in Canada,
summer 1944 - returned to Britain for air transport, until the end of the war he worked at the base of Lyneham and Holmsley South,
After returning to the country, he worked in military air transport,
April 1, 1946 - staff captain of the Air Transport Regiment, at the same time became a professional officer,
1947 - twelve months of leave during which he joined CSA as a pilot,
April 1948 - goes to the reserve,
July 14, 1948 - flew from Prague to Maston in Britain
He rejoined the RAF in Britain.

4x Československý vojnový kríž 1939, Československá medaila Za brabrosť pred neprujem, Czechoslovak Military Medal for Merit I.st., Czechoslovak Military Commemorative medal with the label F-VB, Distinguishet Flying Medal, The 1939-1945 Star, Air crew Europe Star, Defense Medal, War Medal , Ordinul Steaua Romániei, Medalia Virtutea Aeronautica.
