Peter Bučka was born 24.09.1954 in Nitra. In 1974 he graduated from Nitra Gymnasium and in April 1975 he joined the 14th Reconnaissance Battalion in Presov for basic military service. After completing basic training, he was selected for assignment to the Intelligence AdministrationGeneral Staff of the Czechoslovak People's Army (GS CSLA). In September 1975, he entered the Annual Officer's School - tank direction, organized by the 103rd Tank Regiment in Humenne. After graduation he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant on 31.08.1976 and enlisted as a career soldier on 01.09.1976.
After graduation, he was placed under the direct subordination of the Chief of the Intelligence Administration of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak Army and completed two years of postgraduate training in intelligence in Prague. From 1983 to 1986, he worked within the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, where, among other things, he performed intelligence tasks under the cover of a Czechoslovak diplomat.
Since 1986, he has worked in executive and managerial functions, the so-called covert part of the Intelligence Administration. After the establishment of the Slovak Republic, he continued his service in the newly established republic. From 1993 to 1995 he worked at the Intelligence Administration of the General Staff of the Army of the Slovak Republic in Trenčín. In 1995 he was appointed to the post of Director of the Department and in 1996 to the post of Deputy Director of the Military Intelligence ServiceMinistry of Defence of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava.
In 1996-1997 he graduated from the Higher Academic Course of the General Staff of the Army of the Slovak Republic in Military Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš. From November 1998 to 31.12.1999 he was appointed Director of the Military Intelligence Service. President of the Slovak Republic Rudolf Schuster appointed him to the rank of Major General on 01.09.1999.
In 2000, he briefly became an advisor to the Minister of Defence for Intelligence, later performing intelligence tasks for the Military Intelligence Service after the so-called in-depth legalization in the civilian organization. In connection with the introduction of a new scale of general ranks in the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, on 05.12.2002, the President of the Slovak Republic Rudolf Schuster appointed him to the second general rank major general. Peter Bučka was dismissed from the service on 31.12.2002.
On the afternoon of Tuesday 25.01.2022, the body of Peter Bučka was found by a random passer-by in the area of Anjelska beach near the quarry area of the Slovak Water Management Company near the Bratislava city district Devín (approximate area of the discovery of the body 48°09'16.31 "N 17°00'50.03 "E).
