The prototype Bü 133 V1 with the license plate D-EVEO first flew in February 1936 with factory pilot Arthur Benitz. The aircraft had an Hirth HM 506 engine, an inverted air-cooled six-cylinder with a maximum power of 118 kW/160 hp and a double-bladed wooden Heine propeller. However, the engine had difficulties with negative overloads and when flying on the back, so another prototype Bü 133 V2 was redesigned to a proven and trouble-free seven-cylinder star Siemens Sh 14A-4 with the same performance as the engine Hirth HM 506. This version was designated Bü 133B. However, it was not produced, only the Bü 133C version went into series. Shortly afterwards, the Swiss branch of Dornier and the Spanish company CASA, which produced aircraft such as CASA 1.133 with the Sh-14A-4 engine and CASA 1.133L with the Hirth HM506 engine (German version of Bü 133A), purchased a license for this version. The Swiss Air Force decommissioned the last machine in 1968.
