Hiluxes for ÚSpO VP (SOG) were originally acquired in the number of three pieces intended for deployment in Iraq. The installation of complete ballistic protection was planned, however, the vehicle did not have enough power for its engine or load capacity. In the end, only the bulletproof windshield, driver's door and rear bulkhead were installed. The so-called mine protection appeared at the bottom of the vehicle. Otherwise, the vehicles were unprotected. The armament was initially formed by one machine gun PKB caliber 7.62 mm in the roof mount and could be supplemented by another identical machine gun in the hinge on the right front door, respectively. in front of them. The vehicles thus configured were sent to Iraq, where a contingent was operating in Operation Iraqi Freedom 7. field hospital, which also organizationally included the detachment of SOG. He cooperated in protective tasks for the benefit of the hospital or participated in the direct protection of the highest coalition police officer in the area Basry, the so-called Provost Marshall. After the deployment of SOG in Iraq, the Hiluxes were withdrawn back to the Czech Republic.

Before leaving for the ACR SOG-ISAF mission in Afghanistan, the need arose to arm the unit with heavy weapons. In SVOS in Přelouč, an adjustment was subsequently made consisting in the installation of a protective cage around the body and body of the vehicle. A ring with a carriage for a heavy weapon was placed in the hull space - either a 12.7 mm machine gun DŠKM (later NSVT) , or 30mm grenade launcher AGS-17. During the deployment in Hilmand, the Hiluxes were equipped with a number of elements to increase crew protection, in particular additional ballistic panels (obtained from allies from the wrecks of Land Rover Snatch vehicles, HMMWV etc.), jammers and connecting means. Two vehicles were equipped with machine guns DŠKM and one grenade launcher AGS-17. With the exception of the driver's station, the doors were removed from the cars so that the rest of the crew could start fighting immediately if necessary, either by firing or leaving the vehicle. Toyota was variably equipped with machine guns PKB (or Mk 48) on the left side behind the driver or on the right side next to the driver . The crew consisted of a driver, an upper gunner from a heavy weapon, the commander of the vehicle and possibly a rear gunner. Crew personal weapons were placed in each vehicle (9mm pistol Glock 17, 5.56mm rifle M4, 5, 56/7.62mm machine gun Mk 46/ Mk 48, 40mm grenade launcher M203, or shotgun, sniper rifle, then RPG-7 with a supply of anti-personnel and cumulative ammunition, grenades, pyro material, etc.) and possibly a backup equipment. E.g. the vehicle with a grenade launcher was additionally installed a coupled machine gun PKB, because the grenade launcher is overloading quite slowly so that the shooter does not remain incompetent. The vehicles have proven their enormous reliability and operational durability.

The 1st SOG contingent began conducting combat operations with the modified Hilux in southern Afghanistan in May 2007. Due to completely unsatisfactory mine protection, combat vehicles were in Helmandu withdrawn at the end of the rotation of the 2nd Contingent in the spring of 2008. American M1114 became a temporary replacement. At the end of their deployment, a machine gun NSVT was also installed on the Hiluxes, but the deployment of such modified vehicles basically no longer took place. After the abolition of ÚSpO VP in autumn 2009, Hilux in the worst technical condition got into the collections of the Military Technical Museum in Lešanech.The other two ended up at 601. special forces groups.
