President of Mexico /27 February 1836 - 19 April 1837/

He was educated in his hometown, where he completed his studies as an attorney. He was a deputy in the Constitutional Congress of 1824 and governor of his home state of Jalisco from September 1828 to March 1829.

He was Minister of Justice and Commerce from March 1835 to February 1836 in the government of Miguel Barragán. After his death, he was appointed acting president.
During his tenure, he faced unrest after news spread of the defeat and capture of Santa Anna in Texas, which resulted in the severing of relations with the United States.

President Corro enacted seven laws that gave rise to a new constitution.

The constitution was written by centralists under the leadership of Lucas Alamán. The new constitution ended the federal system and established a form of central government and a republic. It introduced universal suffrage, but with the exception that this right applied to all persons who could read and write.

In addition to the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, a Supreme Conservative Power was introduced to control these other branches of government.

The president was excessively religious, weak, indecisive, and lacking in military knowledge, important in this era of constant warfare.

Corro called elections and in 1837 handed power to Anastasio Bustamante, for one of his presidential terms.

He died in the city of Guadalajara on the 18th.12.1864.
