The decoration had three degrees:
Cross of Independence with swords
Cross of Independence
Medal of Independence
Between 1930 and 1938 it was awarded :
Cross of Independence with swords - 1816 persons, of whom 323 posthumously
Cross of Independence - 32 258 persons, of whom 7917 posthumously
Medal of Independence - 51 735 persons, of whom 3019 posthumously
