From 16.05.1944 Hauptmann Czekay becomes commander of I./LG1. Between 02.07.1944 to 25.12.1944 he became commander of the Ergänzungsgruppe/LG1. The losses of the Ju 88 also affected Czekay personally. During one raid, the machine under his command is attacked and severely damaged by a British night fighter. Nevertheless, he caught the heavily damaged junker safely behind the front and made an emergency landing at the airport in Brussels. On November 1, 1944, he was promoted to Major. In 1945 (III.45 - V.45) Geschwaderkommodorem Lehrgeschwader 1.
On March 5, 1945, the LG1 unit led by him was located near Treuenbrietzen (Germany), April 22 in Schwerin, and on May 30, 1945, its Ju 88 flew to Schleswig. 8.5. 1945 - Surrender. In total, he made more than 500 combat flights.
