První tělesná garda harcířů [1763-1918]

Erste Arcieren-Leibgarde
the First body guard harcířů
Erste Arcieren-Leibgarde

Body guard harcířů and trabantů existed already in the 16. century. However, in the year 1763 occurred to such a significant reorganization of these formations, that this date is considered the date of the creation of this harcířského department, which existed until 1918.

In 1763 she founded the empress Maria Theresa of the two departments with a similar name: Roman royal body mounted guard harcířů (Römisch-königliche Arcièrenleibgarde zu Pferd) and the Imperial-royal noble body mounted guard harcířů (Kaiserlich-königliche adelige Arcièrenleibgarde zu Pferd). The first formation consisted of thirty men, the second of fifty. In the year 1765 were the two formations merged in the Royal Czech and arcivévodskou austrian noble body guard harcířů (Königlich böhmischen und erzherzoglich österreichischen adeligen Arcièrenleibgarde). Initially, members could stand just a half-wheel to the officers of the šlehtického origin and catholic religion. Required was the handsome appearance, the minimum height of 174 centimeters, combat merit, excellent staff assessment and the ability to ride on horseback. The applicant had to also be married. The chance of adoption increased as well as wound taken in the fight, but of course not such that would hinder them in the performance of official duties. Some of these requirements have been over time mitigated or abandoned.

From the year 1806 was the unit referred to as the Imperial-royal the first body guard harcířů (Kaiserlich-königliche Erste Arcieren-Leibgarde). The austro-Hungarian settlement brought about a minor change the name of the formation that newly bore the name Imperial and royal first body guard harcířů (Kaiserliche und königliche Erste Arcierenleibgarde).

The first body guard harcířů, like the other guards formations, subordinate to colonel guard corps (Oberster, Oberst, Oberster der sämmtlichen to. to. Leibgarden), which at the same time he held high office at the court - was the first supreme hofmistrem (Erster Obersthofmeister). The head of the first body guard harcířů stood the captain of the guard (theGarde-Capitän), which was named by someone with a higher generálskou ranks. From 1917 he held the captain of the first body guard harcířů at the same time, the function of the colonel of the guards, which have hitherto held the first of the highest including comte.

Harcířský the unit was fair the unit, which they have not engaged in actual surveillance of the monarch and his residence, but was one with the formation that gave the shine to the viennese imperial court, mainly in important ceremoniálech.

Gear harcířů consisted of a silver helmet with white bůvolími žíněmi, fiery red coat with a collar and výložkami of black velvet and yellow buttons, narrow white pants from deer skin and high riding bot.
