F.Pz.DT 4803 (Pz.Kpfw.I)

Removed towers from light tanks Pz.Kpfw. I were used to create a permanent firing post F.Pz.DT 4803. The tower was significantly modified. The front armor and most of the interior equipment has been removed. Only the side and ceiling armor were preserved. The front side windows were removed and the armored covers of the ventilation vents were welded in their place. The thicker front armor plate was composed of a pair of plates and welded to the tower body. A firing hole was created in the front armor for one machine gun MG 34 or MG 42 caliber 7.92 mm. The machine gun used a sight T.Z.F.2 or T.Z.F.4b/1. From the tower No.251 ( Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B) an observation periscope was mounted. The armor of the forehead was 35 mm thick, the sides and buttocks were 13 mm thick and the ceiling was 8 mm thick. The height of the tower itself was 345 mm, the concrete foundation was 145 mm high.
A total of 250 "T 1 (S)" and 113 "T 1 (S-B)" towers were produced by Schichau from Elbing. In the report on the state of the towers from March 26, 1945, there were 97 towers in Denmark, 143 towers in the Atlantic or West Wall, 91 in Italy and 32 on the Eastern Front.
