After the production of light tanks Pz.Kpfw.II was discontinued in favour of new tank fighters, the unneeded turrets were used to build permanent firing posts. The turrets from Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.F were used. An interesting weapon version was created when the 20 mm gun was removed and the bore was blinded after its lafetation. A 3.7 cm gun 3.7 cm KwK 36 L/45 was mounted in the centre of the gun shield, which had been carried by earlier versions of the Pz.Kpfw.III. The MG 34 machine gun was retained in its original position. The conning tower with observation periscopes was removed, instead an armoured plate with ventilation slits and observation periscope was welded to the ceiling. The turrets did not have a forward right side observation porthole (abolished from summer 1942). The ammunition supply consisted of 360 rounds of 3.7 cm calibre ammunition for the gun and 45,000 rounds of 7.92 mm calibre ammunition for the machine gun. The armour of the turret was 30 mm thick at the front, 14.5 mm at the sides and 10 mm at the ceiling. The turret was 510 mm high, the bunker platform was 240 mm above ground level. A total of 100 of these turrets were produced by the Famo Ursus factory and the Schinai company in Elbing (86 of them new turrets, the rest refurbished).
The report of 26 March 1945 states that 60 turrets were mounted on the Atlantic and West Vale, the remaining 40 turrets were mounted on the Balkans.
