From the helmet vz.36 differs in several details:
- the helmet has no ventilation holes or rectangular cutouts
- the inner hoop is fastened with four two-piece threads
- the inside has a completely different shape - it is made of one piece of leather, ventilated by circular holes. It was made of sheep's, from March 19, 1940 also pork (pork) skin.
- It is lined with seven rubber cushions around the perimeter and one top.


They were manufactured by Eisen- und Huttenwerke Thale AG


It was produced in sizes 66, 68 and 71.

predecessor M36 is mainly different that it was used as a training helmet, rectangular cutouts were used to fasten another part of the internal reinforcement and straps under the neck, there was another version at the end of the war which had two rivets, but no ventilation hole.
