Diskuse

In the book The Great Circus (NV 1989, p.148) he writes:
"The Focke-wulf 190 with the "long nose" was a variation of the classic Focke-wulf with a Jumo 213 inline twelve-cylinder engine of 2100 hp with water and methyl injection at top speeds instead of the normal BMW 801 twin-cylinder engine.
Half of all German fighter squadrons in January 1945 were equipped with these superb machines.
Very fast (700 to 750 km per hour), very maneuverable, armed with two 20 mm caliber guns mounted above the engine and two MG 113 large-caliber machine guns at the wing root, the FW 190 D9 was an excellent and formidable opponent. Its excellent characteristics put it in the same category as the Tempest and clearly superior to American Mustangs, Lightnings and Thunderbolts as well as to English Spitfires XVI."

I find it quite bold to say that the FW-190D clearly outperformed the P-51. According to the tables, it looks like this:
P-51B-NA: v0 m.n.m.-560km/h, v 8,150m-704km/h
P-51D-NA: at 0m-578km/h, at 7,620m-703km/h
P-47D-10: at 0m-536km/h, at 9,000m-697km/h
SpitfireXIV: 715km/h does not indicate the height of the source
FW-190D-9: at 0m-600km/h, at 5,500m-690km/h - it should be noted that this speed is developed by additional fuel injection and therefore can not fly all the time. In addition, we must add the unbelievably better agility of Allied aircraft (at least the P-51 and Spitfire) and also much better training of Allied aircraft crews. It follows that the focke-wulfs in this phase of the bags no longer exceeded the Allied fighters, as evidenced by the disproportionate number of losses.

For Tonto
I don't know, but at 0 altitude it's the fastest. At higher we can't guess - there are differences in measurements - inconsistent altitude.

Resistance at this late (1945) was not that important - the Germans used hit-and-run tactics, because when outnumbered, getting involved in manoeuvre combat (losing speed and energy) is a road to hell.

And the quality of the crews played a big role, but that's not a problem for the Fw190:-)
