Strength cap Nauders was built to defend the road leading from Lombardy over the pass Reschenpass into Landeck in the Western Tyrol. It consisted of a single stone fortu Nauders and the adjacent barracks for 40 men guarding the section.

In the period 1. world war ii represented a closure Nauders second line of defense for the fortress closure Stilfserjoch and his crew consisted of 87 men of the following units:
- field section regiment of the provincial shooters no I
- field section of the regiment of provincial shooters no III
- backup rota a battalion of the fortress artillery no 4
- field section a battalion of the fortress artillery no 7
- field section domobraneckého rifle battalion Landeck
