Strength cap Stilfserjoch was built to defend the road leading from the pass Stilfser (Stelvio) inland. It consisted of the old stone fortu Gomagoi and two unfinished forts Werk Kleinboden and Werk Schafseck on the surrounding mountain tops.

In the autumn of 1915 formed the crew of the cap members of the following units:
- field section regiment of the provincial shooters no I
- field section of the regiment of provincial shooters no III
- backup rota battalion of the fortress artillery no 4
- field section battalion of the fortress artillery no 7
- field section domobraneckého rifle battalion Landeck

In June, 1915, less than a month after the Italian declaration of war, occupied a small section of the austrian gendarmes, members of the financial guard and domobranců, led by the captain of the imperial huntsmen Andreas Steiner, border mountain Monte Scorluzzo (3 094 m), controlling the whole of the pass Stilfser. This position is the austro-Hungarian forces managed to hold until the end of the war, so that the strength of Gomagoi has remained in the background and her artillery armament with context and most of the crew was moved into the forward concrete and kavernových field position:
- battery taufers / campo tures (4 guns caliber 9 cm)
- battery Kleinboden (2 guns of calibre of 9 cm)
- battery Goldsee (2 moždíře caliber 15 cm)
- battery Schafseck (2 guns of calibre of 9 cm and 2 guns caliber 8 cm)
- kavernová battery Steinadler (2 kasematní 8cm canons of the Werk Nauders)
