Between 1/1944 and 5/1944, 102 ammunition carriers were produced, the design of which was based on the self-propelled gun Sd.Kfz.138/1 "Grille" Ausf.M.

Monthly deliveries:
1/1944 - 5 pcs
2/1944 - 10 pcs
3/1944 - 20 pcs
4/1944 - 18 pcs
5/1944 - 49 pcs

It was basically an identical vehicle but did not carry the main weapon, the howitzer 15 cm s.I.G.33. Instead, the space was used to store 40 rounds of 15 cm calibre ammunition. The howitzer bore was covered by an armoured plate on the underside fixed on a hinge and on the upper side fastened by a belt. If necessary, the machine could be re-equipped with a howitzer in field conditions. The machines were intended for supplying ammunition to the machines on whose design they were based (Sd.Kfz.138/1 "Grille" Ausf.M).
As standard, a company with six self-propelled howitzers was to have two ammunition vehicles.
