The Pension Guard was established in 1835. It was similar to the Border Guard (Grenzwache). Unlike it, however, it did not operate on the outer frontiers, but operated in the interior. In 1842, the Pension Guard was merged with the Border Guard into the Financial Guard (Finanzwache).
