Double hero of the Soviet Union



He was born on December 15, 1917 in the village of Košeljovo in the Gomel region (Belarusian nationality). He was drafted into the army in 1938 and in 1940 he graduated from the Odessa Military Aviation School.


He was on the front line from from the first days war with germany. He fought in Stalingrad. He flew in the state of 9.GIAP over Rostov, Donbas and Melitopol. He became commander of the ring and in the rank of senior lieutenant on November 1, 1943 was awarded the title Heroes of the Soviet Union for the first time. At that time, he already had 18 victories to his credit. He took part in the fighting in Crimea, Belarus, the Baltics. He flew as an fighter "ace" in East Prussia. He became the deputy commander of the squadron 9.GIAP, classified in the state 303.IAD. He has a successful taran execution on his account at Junkers Ju 188. By March 1945, he made 385 combat flights. The captain ended his combat career in the rank of captain over Berlin, where he shot down 2 Luftwaffe aircraft.


During the war, he made a total of 457 combat flights, participated in 125 air battles. He scored 31 victories alone and 1 in cooperation. He flew on fighters P 39 Airacobra and at the end of the war with La-7 with hull number "white 23". On June 29, 1945, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the second time. In addition, it was decorated twice Order of Lenin, six times Order of the Red Banner, Order of the Patriotic War I.stupně, twice Ord the Red Star and medals.


After the war, he graduated from the Military Aviation Academy in 1951 and the Military Academy of the General Staff - 1959. He held command positions in VVS SA. In 1957 he was promoted to the rank of Major General of Aviation.
He died in July 1972.
