Groupe de Chasse II/1

GC II/1, received its first aircraft MB. 152 3. November 1939. The day they landed the first four machines of the group at the airport Buc near Versailles. Armed groups of a new type was lengthy and in December 1939 (probably January 1940) they flew, the pilots and the MB. 151. Since November, the whole unit is intensively practiced. In the spring months then this training was occasionally varied with a combat mission. Up to 10. may no contact with the enemy occurred. The day before the German attack on France, the group had 25 aircraft MB. 152 and no MB. 151.

On 10. may by a group of 23 sorties and already early in the morning has seen the unit its first kill (He 111). The first peak of their combat activities of the group reached 14. may. The pilots of GC II/1 conducted 53 sorties and achieved nine kills of enemy aircraft. One pilot of the group fell, four were wounded and the unit lost eight aircraft. The following day was the six planes of the group challenged that "stodevítek". In this battle the unit lost two more pilots. 19. may, GC II/1, she worked together with the GC II/9.

An interesting day in the "life" of the unit was without a doubt 21. may 1940. That day, pilots had together fighting the GC II/1 and GC II/9 to ensure the protection of Amiotu 354, which the enemy could at any price to shoot down. Flew with it a general Weygand on a survey to assess the overall situation and also to travel with him to the meeting in Ypres.

Day 3. June the Germans attacked the airport in Brétigny, where the group was active. Cash aircraft vzlétaly at a time when the airport has already dropped the bombs. During this conflict on account of the group were added two proven and three probable kills. The group lost three planes and had two wounded. GC II/1, however, remained on a highly operational. It's a testament to 37 sorties out of 5. June. The next day, 6. June, the group attacked the bombers protected by a strong fighter escort. The group added three confirmed kills "stodevítek", but at the same time came the three men. 11. June then GC II/1 wrote the last kill.

25. June (airport Agen-la-Garonne) remained the Groupe de Chasse II/1 of the nineteen aircraft.
