the Church of st. Václav
Church of st. Václav is basilikou drawn up in the neo-renaissance style in the years 1881 to 1885 according to the project of architect Antonín Barvitia. The reason for the construction of the new church was inadequate to the capacity of the church of st. Philip and James (the latter was demolished in 1891) and the decision was made already in the year 1866. Significantly to the construction of the contributed Ferdinand In. and it's full of 30 000 gold. However, the foundation stone was laid until 1881 and the construction then continued until 1885, when the church began to other finishing work. The church is designed as a three-aisled construction, when the main ship is in the middle and on the sides of the are then ship side. Side ships are each separated from the nave by four columns and are finished with a tower 50 m high. These towers are situated so that it is located in the facade of the church with the main entrance. The decoration was conceived quite generously. Hungry ship has coffered flat ceiling. The ceremony of consecration then took place in 1886, led him prague archbishop Schönborn, who assisted the prague sanctifying bishop Charles Schwarz and bishop of české budějovice Martin Říha. Of the major church events we can mention the exposure to the Palladium of the Czech lands, 1945 and 2015, then the exposure of the skull of st. Wenceslas, in the church to his honor.
