V letech 1879 až 1922 samostatné město, před připojením k Velké Praze roku 1922 byly Královské Vinohrady 4. největším městem v Čechách, na Moravě a ve Slezsku po Praze, Brně a Moravské Ostravě a zároveň 5. největším městem tehdejší Republiky Československé.
Město bylo okresním městem vinohradského okresu (královevinohradského?), který byl zrušen po připojení Královských Vinohrad k Velké Praze.

Church of the Sacred Heart of jesus

Church of the Sacred Heart of jesus, which is located at Jiřího z Poděbrad square, arose with regard to the growing number of catholics in the then separate Royal Vinohrady. The land for the church was donated the city, furthermore, was founded the society for its construction (the agent was Alexander Titl) and finally was taken to hold a competition in 1919. Finally won the project of the slovenian architect Josip Plečnika, which mainly participated in the reconstruction and rebuilding of Prague castle. The whole work is insirováno mediterranean designs and the building itself is dealt with fairly original. The actual construction took place in the years 1928 to 1932.
The church itself is a rectangular plan with dimensions of 38 x 26 m. the Dominant feature is the tower, not so much its height of 42 m, but the fact that this hranolovitá bell tower occupies the full breadth of the tabernacle. Here then is a huge window with a diameter of 7.6 m. in the Middle of the tower is roofed by a cupola with a cross, which is a high of 3 m. the bell tower has 6 bells. The entrance facade has three highlighted portals. The entire building is then decoratively addressed.
For the consecration of cardinal Karl Buffoon occurred 8. may, 1932. 2010 the church was declared a national cultural monument. From 2014, the Czech and the Slovenian republic are seeking inclusion among the UNESCO monuments.

the Main railway station (Praha hl. n., Wilson railway station, the Emperor Franz Joseph I.)

The building itself station consists of several parts. The new terminal building is located in the New Town, whereas the old Fanta's building is known Fantovou café, along with a hall above a rail yard, belongs to the cultural monuments and located in Vinohrady.

Smetana theatre (State opera Prague, Theatre 5. may,the German opera (Deutsches Opernhaus), the New German theatre (Neues deutsches Theater))

The new German theatre (Neues deutsches Theater) arose as a response to the prague German minority on the construction and opening of the National theatre. The munich crisis was the centre of the German democratic opposition, but because of the lack of viewers, it was decided to terminate the activities and the theater had to buy a stand. Until then, however, came 15. march 1939, and from the theatre was a German opera (Deutsches Opernhaus). Became one of the symbols of the German government in the us and even got into the stamp design of the German Imperial mail. After the liberation, here was soon established Theatre 5. may, it mainly focused on the avant-garde.
