CZK - Hodnostní označení

I will move my posts here, so that they are not drowned in the field clothing of vz. 60.

EDIT: posts originally in the topic Field uniform vz.60 have been moved to the topic.

Just a clarification of terminology. The rank markings on the Model 60 blouse were twofold:
1) shoulder epaulettes on both shoulders - only for generals (standard piping, stars, possibly a badge of the troop type, but on camouflage fabric)
2) rank belt on the right side of the chest
- stained plate for NCOs (pips) and warrant officers (stained stars, possibly buckles, horizontal for battalions, vertical for spagins)
- matt gilt plate for officers (stars and horizontal buckles, if any).
As far as I remember, the pips and stars were of the standard size of the epaulettes and had the same method of attachment, the "garden" for the cravats was only one and had the identical attachment as on the epaulettes, the clasps for ensigns and senior officers were U-shaped in cross-section and attached as clips.

The tab (originally a tab, masc.) was basically sewn on the collar, it was cloth and usually monochrome (sometimes with a different coloured border), or a metal badge was attached to it, e.g. in the 1950s a mace.

Citace - buko1 :

It was metallic, ensigns had a dark, almost black colouring, lower officers did not have the trim, only the higher ones...

I've come across plastic ones too , the ensigns had grey and the senior officers had reddish brown .... (maybe they came from monteros?)

Regarding the frisks (pecks): they were made sheet metal and sprayed black or they were made aluminum and the surface was anodized (oxidized) to a gray color. I'll try a search at home ....

As far as I know, the pips were normal steel (not aluminium) and stained a non-glossy dark grey metal colour. It was probably something like a breechcloth. It looked like you painted a normal chrome plated lug with a matte transparent grey paint. Just a metal finish Smile

Well they were probably made in more variations .... I used to bring my cousin chrome plated pips from Sabinov, because at the border guard unit during socialism it was impossible to get them Very Happy, it was good that my dad knew a warehouseman Very Happy.
When I was a basic, 10 years ago, we didn't have shiny pips for the walking uniform, so we scraped the field (grey) ones with sandpaper to make them shiny. And like steel it didn't seem .... It really looked like aluminum.
And the chrome ones, so I don't know what material they were.
But I could be wrong, after all it was a long time ago and who knew we would even bother with such details Very Happy

Well, I don't think aluminium can be chrome plated (more like nickel plated, chrome is yellow), maybe it changed over time, for me in the 70's it was definitely made of iron and either pickled or chrome plated. It was about 3 parts. The legs that went with them were one (bent in a u) then the sheet metal that they went through (2 rectangular holes) and the top, which was hemispherical and curved inwards, held it all together. Actually quite complicated to manufacture Smile Maybe it was simplified later.
URL : https://www.valka.cz/CZK-Hodnostni-oznaceni-t78079#287289 Version : 0
What I had, the legs were made of copper wire of square or rectangular cross-section, it was inserted into a groove and the edges of the groove were deformed so that the wire would hold in it. I'll try to look for that lug at home. And sometimes the groove was poorly fastened, so it would easily pop out of the groove and be useless Very Happy

To tell you the truth, I didn't see any general's displays on the 60th, all the generals I met in camouflage had "curly" plates similar in colour to those of the higher ranks, only wider on the breast rank belt. Otherwise, the plate was hard to put on, because it was rather stiff, but again there was practically no risk of loss.

I've seen the base pips as aluminum (usually for a walking uniform), něwhich were shinier, I don't know if they polished them ... and as a die-cast steel plate. The latter were easily made into "camouflage" if they werenět in the armyě by heating them over a fire (usually a gas cooker) and dipping them in old oil.

If a jacket was worn with 60s trousers, there were "matte" pips or stars, but I don't know of anyone who had "matte" piping, so they usually took the most sepia-toned windows so it didn't shine too much

I'm glad that Janek and I have confirmed that there were at least two types of pips. The steel ones were enough just to anneal, but then they rusted very quickly and were "like a fox" in a few days. We used to use more of an alcohol cooker (box), gas was practically unavailable then. The pickled ones were worn even if a congo was used as a jacket for the working thirty-sixes (but the pips were shiny on those).

The marking pads for the vz. 60 clothing were grey for the warrant officers and reddish brown for the officers from the major, both made of plastic. I never saw a general in camouflage in my career. The same pads were used for monteras both brown and black.

As I remember, the brown winter warming inserts for the blouse and trousers were an integral part of the uniform (I still had the "Mlok" pattern) - a material similar to the thermal fabric and a quilted insert for the coat. If only trousers and shirt were allowed to be used during summer employment, the shoulder straps had to be attached to the shirt and the belt was then fastened only over the hips, outside the loops. The latter were small and carried a separate trouser belt, or the trousers were held in place by "stays" ( only under the blouse, of course).
Drop OffT
I was a bit amused by Ibsr's words: "...after replacing the dirty ones with clean ones...." Smile . When we had our uniform dirty, the order was followed by a private "washing" system: greasy soap + scrubber + sweat and eeeeeeem !!!!". And mlok shone again.

Citace - bitaxe :

( to vieš, roky som ju nehľadal Very Happy).

Nutno říci, že posluchač pátého ročníku v hodnosti nadrotmistra s útlejšími rameny už měl docela problém ... nemluvě o posluchačkách, jejichž "bojová hmotnost" v uniformě a kanadách leckdy nedosahovala ani 50 kg Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Smile
