In júni 1864 sa odohrala aj fight pri Piedmonte, who was súčasťou campaign Lynchburg. In this bitke padol brigádny general William Edmondson Jones. Born sa vo Virginia. University of the West Pointe and after the end of the štúdia slúžil ako lieutenant jazdectva the west, where sa took part in many fighter with about indians. In 1857 he left the army and dedicated sa summon the plantation. Before the war you vyslúžil prezývku "Grumble Jones" (reptajúci Jones), under that bol neskôr known in the whole konfederačnej the army.
After začiatku secesie, nastúpil to 1. virginskemu jazdeckému regiment, in the rank of captain. Slúžil under the leadership of J.E.B. Stuart during the Slovak fighting when Bull Rune. In other bitke pri * Rune was injured. Neskôr sa attended the Stuartovho nájazdu for pozície unionistických jednotiek before Sedemdňovou fight.
