Dear colleagues, brothers in arms, I would like to open here the topic of regimental cap badges of Czech and Moravian regiments fighting on the fronts of the Great War. Many of us own a number of very collectible pieces, but do we all know what is depicted on each cap? Attached is a variant of the badge of the C. and K. Infantry Regiment No. 98 von Rummer from 1917. The regiment was at that time operating on the southern section of the Sochi Front in the Doberdoby and Komensky Karst. I would be interested in any of you who can help me identify the scene on this cap badge.
NB I have walked much of the southern section of this front and the port of Trieste with its bay and the massive mountain above the city comes to mind. The regiment essentially protected the approaches to Trieste within the section of the front where it was deployed.

I. pol. prapor téhož pluku se zůčastnil v lednu r. 1916 ofenzívy v pohoří Lovčenu nad Bokou Kotorskou. V rámci 14. horské brigády (XIX. armádní sbor, 3. polní armáda) obdrželi příslušníci praporu pamětní čepičák s motivem Lovčenu.

Personally, I do not like too much the division of the army into Austrian, Czech, Hungarian units, but in this case I would honestly just allow myself to present the badge of honour of the 21st Rifle Division, which had as its commander a great Czech soldier, the late army general Podhajsky. The badge of the members of the 8th Rifle Regiment from Prague. The mobilization of these "older" gentlemen was exemplary and the soldiers fought bravely in Serbia. Just as Prague has its home infantry regiment No. 28, Vienna has its famous 4th Deutschmaister Infantry Regiment. In this case it is a purely Austrian, Viennese regiment, but we find Czech soldiers in the Great War 1914-18. This badge is a reminder of Christmas spent in the field.
