Karlsruhe Airport


One of the first airports in Germany, it was established before World War I and closed after the end of the Versailles Treaty. Already in 1925 it was reopened for civil traffic. In 1935 taken over by the German Luftwaffe and used mainly as a factory airport for local repairs. After the end of World War II, refugees from the territories occupied by the Soviet Union were accommodated here. From the late 1940s until 1993 it was used by the US Army (Air Force?). Then handed over to the civil administration and closed down.
