The K-10 transport was designed in 1925 by Eiji Sekiguchi for use on the route between Seoul and Dairen, by the Nippon Koku KK.
The design reverted to the proven biplane concept, with special attention given to stability and control. This aeroplane was unique in that it carried a radio telegraph, the first installed in a japanese civil aircraft although at the time not a new technology, and it provided progress reports to ground stations. The first aeroplane was completed in August 1926, initially powered by a 400hp Lorraine engine with a four-bladed propeller. Two passengers were seated side by side in an open cockpit in front of the pilot. The aeroplane was soon modified with a 260hp Maybach engine with a two-bladed propeller. Seating capacity was increased to four passengers in an enclosed cabin. In September 1926, the first of two K-10s carried mail on the Osaka Seoul Dairen route along with the Kawanishi K-7B already in service.

Strlearning history:

The transport aircraft was designed by Kawanishi's chief designer Eiji Sekiguchi in 1925, the aircraft was to carry passengers on the Osaka - Seoul - Dalian route, the civil airline Nippon Koku K. K. has so far only handled mail shipments. Eiji Sekiguchi returned to a proven design - a classic biplane with all-wood construction. This made the aircraft stable and maneuverable. The Kawanishi K-10, as the aircraft was designated, carried one first - it was the first civilian aircraft in Japan to carry a radio telegraph on board.

The first of two aircraft built was completed in early August 1926, initially powered by a Lorraine engine with a four-bladed propeller. There were two passengers and they sat in an open cockpit in front of the pilot. Soon afterwards the K-10 was substantially modified, the new engine was powered by a heavy Maybach twin-bladed propeller engine, there was a relative surplus of these German engines in Japan, Germany handed them over to Japan as war reparations, in Germany these engines powered airships Zeppelin and large R-class bombers.
In September 1926 the first K-10 began flying on the above route, it flew there together with the Kawanishi K-7B, it was a long and rather dangerous trip, after six flights were made the K-10 was withdrawn and flew only in Japan.
