Kollaa Cross
Kollaan risti
Kollaa Cross - Kollaan risti:

The cross was founded on May 5, 1940 and awarded in the number of 8000 pieces. It was intended for soldiers of the combat section of Kollaanjoki, soldiers of the 12th Division, and other units that fought in the section of Kolla.

The cross is struck from patinated black iron, in the center of the cross is again inserted a shield with an armored hand, where on one side is indicated the defense of Christianity (hand with a European type of sword), against offensive barbarism and enslavement, coming from Asia type). Decorative, green enamelled spruce twigs are inserted between the arms of the cross.

The back is smooth and bears the inscription:

6. 12. 1939 KOLLAA 13. 4. 1940

The symbolism of the cross and the armored arm appears on the decorations of both the Winter and the "Continuing" Wars. It is perhaps not a small imagination of the authors of the decorations, but a symbolism that is dear to the Finns. The fight for freedom and independence ..

Although these are just simple souvenirs, they were highly valued in Finnish society. It is an exaggeration to say that if a person did not appear on the memorable day of these battles with a decoration that would clearly say: "Look, I was there too, I also fought for Finland" such a citizen of Finland would be the subject of questions, why ??
