On 22 April 1996, two Hornets from VC-12 Omars from NAS Oceana collided in mid-air. Blue camouflaged (BuNo: 162454) AF 03 and brown (162475) AF 12. Both aircraft were heavily damaged in the collision but returned to base. The pilots escaped uninjured. AF 03 has been partially repaired and is standing outside the gate to the base.
