Medals with the name for a good engineer must be translated according to the meaning as to a good or well performing engineer (reservist, etc.). The medal was established on 10 August 1940 by official decree of the Minister of War and Navy (Službeni vojni list, br. 28, 24.7.1940).
The medal was intended to recognize members of engineer units who demonstrated proficiency in the construction of shelters, shelters, construction and destruction of bridges, construction of engineer facilities, construction and destruction of railroad lines, roadblocks, etc.
Medal description: On the front side in the center of the medal, under the steel helmet, is a folded engineer's tools (shovel, spade, pickaxe, cogwheel, emblem symbolizing the railroad, etc.) These tools are inserted into a half-volume of laurel on the left side and oak leaves on the right side. At the top is an inscription in Cyrillic and at the bottom an inscription in Latin: Dobrom inžinjercu.
On the reverse side, in the centre of the medal, is the state emblem of the Royal Yugoslavia surmounted by the royal crown. The Serbian eagle bears the arms of Croatia and Slovenia on the honour plate. Around the heraldic emblem is again an inscription in Cyrillic and Latin: S verom u boga za kralja i otadžbinu - meaning: With faith in God for the King and the Fatherland.
This inscription is in Cyrillic at the top of the medal and in Latin at the bottom.
The 37 mm diameter medal is made of gilded tombak and is worn on a ribbon in the national colours (Slavic tricolour).
There are medals that are made of base metal and are silver plated. These medals have a flat lug made at the same time as the medal.
We do not have a good quality picture of this medal (yet).
The provisional picture was obtained thanks to Mr. Jiri Tintera, it is from the private collection of a collector (Martin 555 ) with whom we are in contact for a quality picture to complete.
