Medal for a good machine gunner
Medal for a good machine gunner
Medal für geschickten schweren Maschinengewehr - Schützen
Above all, the experience of the World War clearly demonstrated the importance of rapid-fire automatic weapons - machine guns.
By a government or army decree of 22 August 1935, this medal, or more precisely a performance badge, was established as a visible award for soldiers who were specialist heavy machine-gun shooters.
The medal was established along with the 37mm caliber gun commander's medal and is much like this medal as well.
Medal description:
The medal is made of gilt bronze or gilt tombak. We find medals with a diameter of 35 - 37 mm. At the top of the decoration is the royal Yugoslavian crown under which a soldier is visible in profile with a helmet on his head while operating a heavy machine gun. The whole is framed in a half-tower of laurel leaves, tied with a ribbon at the bottom.
On the back is a decorative cartouche with an inscription in Cyrillic and Latin:
- Dobrom mitraljescu
The medal has several types and forms. We can find medals with a fixed flat tab minted at the same time as the medal, but also a classic tab for hanging on a ribbon. The ribbon is prescribed in the colours of the Yugoslav flag (Slavic tricolour).
