MiG-29K (divisions 9-41)

One-seat (MiG-29K, 9-41) and two-seat ( MiG-29KUB, 9-47) on-board fighter developed under the 2004 contract for the Indian Navy. The one-seater version is planned as a combat variant, the two-seater variant is a combat-training aircraft with the primary purpose for training pilots, which, however, retains combat capabilities. Both machines have the same bow (single-seater version has a second cockpit replaced by a fuel tank), RD-33MK engines with a thrust of 9000 kg, Zuk-ME radar (slotted array), new avionics with open architecture and the possibility of expanding the range of carried weapons. Other equipment includes elements common to on-board machines - folding wings, reinforced chassis, hook and other modifications, previously tested on two prototypes MiG-29K (9-31).

The MiG-29K prototype (9-41) is expected to take off in 2007. In the years 2007 to 2009, the delivery of the first 16 ordered pieces for the Indian Navy is expected, 12 of which are to be single-seater MiG-29K and 4 double-seater MiG-29KUB. India still has the option to use the option on another 30 machines. It was envisaged that in the future both types of designation would receive the MiG-33.

Indian MiG-29K (9-41) aircraft from the 303 Squadron captured at the Hansa home base in Goa, a state in western India. Although the MiG-29K (9-41) is a single-seater, its cockpit overlay is identical in shape to the cockpit overlay of the two-seater MiG-29KUB (9-47). The contract for the purchase of 12 MiG-29K and 4 MiG-29KUB was signed in January 2004. Deliveries of the aircraft began in December 2009. In March 2010, an option to deliver a further 29 aircraft (25 MiG-29K and 4 MiG-29KUB) to the Indian Navy was exercised. The operational carrier for the aircraft is the aircraft carrier Vikramaditya, which can accommodate up to 24 MiG-29K/KUB machines. In 2016, the 300 Squadron, which originally operated Sea Harrier FRS.51 aircraft, became the second operator of Indian MiG-29K/KUBs.
