Mitsubishi 1MF2 Hayabusa
陸軍 三菱 隼型試作戦闘機 [1MF2]

History:
In the second half of the twenties took command of the japanese army air force to replace the outgoing Nakajimu Ko-4 fighter aircraft of its own production and was commissioned by the task air factories Nakajima, Kawasaki and Mitsubishi. All the factories involved, but the first competition of its own fighter aircraft landed ingloriously. First, all three factories were too much under the influence of foreign structures, and in the end was the entire competition is cancelled, when during the strength tests, it was found that the none type.
Kawasaki entered the contest with his KDA-3 - inspired by Dornierem To.H Falke, the chief designer was Dr. Richard Voght.
Nakajima claimed the aircraft Nakajima NC with a star engine and the entire aircraft was heavily inspired by Nieuportem-Delage.
Mitsubishi participated in Hayabusou (Falcon) here was the design team completely japanese ing.Nobushiro Nakata, Jiro Hirokoshi (later the designer of the Zera) and Jiro Tanaka. The consultant team and the oversight structures had Dr Alexander Baumann of Stuttgart. Originally had a Hayabusa be dolnoplošná, but in the end, at the insistence of the Technical office of the air force, was remade on the wing.
In the tests, in the spring of 1928, the aircraft disintegrated in a dive and its pilot became the first pilot of Japan, who saved the parachute.
On the basis of this accident was the competition cancelled, and immediately thereafter ordered the Rikugun Koku Hombu to perform the strength tests of all aircraft entered into the competition. Fail no. Kawasaki and Mitsubishi have already considered this contest for losing and Nakajima, which its prototype rebuilt and significantly modified 5 times finally achieved her goal and her aircraft was accepted as "army fighter Type 91" and in the pilots was very popular..
