Vstřikem metanolu a vody se zvýšila účinnost kompresoru a tím také stoupl výkon motoru zejména v malých a středních výškách. Zařízení bylo nespolehlivé a zapříčinilo velkou poruchovost motoru.

In November 1944, the new engine, the Sakae 31A, finally became available after the completion of tests and a serial A6M5c was equipped with it at the Mitsubishi plant. As a result the maximum speed in level flight increased to 345 mph. Serial aircraft produced at this phase of the war were plagued with numerous defects. The troublesome fuel injection system was a major problem.

Brief History:
The famous Zero lost its dominance over the Allied Air Force from 1943 and the completion of its successor's development in 1944 was not realistic, so designers tried to increase the combat value of Zero by installing a more powerful engine, but the Naval Air Command rejected these efforts and was in the airframe A6M5c 52c installed a new Sakae 31 engine, the engine was equipped with injection of water and methanol into the compressor. In emergency mode, it was possible to slightly increase the engine output at lower and medium altitudes, but at the cost of reducing its life.
The next step to increase the combat value of Zero was the self-locking casing of the fuselage fuel tank. The cover was made of raw rubber.
The overall quality of Zer leaving the production plants at this time (end of 1944) was very different, but in the vast majority very poor and so the performance was different. I couldn't even find out how many Zer A6M6cs were made.
