仮称一三型 / Hamaki / Betty
一式陸攻 / Ichishiki rikujō kōgeki ki, Isshikirikkō/ Naval ground attack aircraft type 1 model 13

History:
One of the causes of large losses, which suffered the Betty was the inability to ascend to greater operating height, so to get out of the reach of malorážního anti-aircraft artillery. Therefore, fell in February 1942, the decision to mount the výškovější engines. It was a good achievement, thanks to which increased with the altitude, improved climb rate and maximum speed and thus from the 406 produced machines with these engines as standard montovaly.
From the 663. the machines were improved self-locking packaging of fuel tanks, before this machine, all machines fire extinguishing systems with carbon dioxide (how far was the fire extinguisher system is effective, when Betty earned the nickname "the Flying cigarette lighter") this adjustment slightly reduced speed and range.
From the 954 aircraft were used individual exhaust ejectors, which slightly speed increased it was September 1943.
In total it was produced more than 1200 aircraft version of the G4M1 + two prototypes.
