history
The Peruvian Army was formed on 1 August 1917 at Ismailia base in Egypt as a support unit to British forces, and operated in Palestine until the end of the war. Its duties cover a wide range of tasks from reconnaissance, bombing and transport to fighter patrols. On 1 February 1920 it ceased to exist, renumbering itself as 208 Squadron.
It is re-established on 18 May 1937 as a light bomber at Upper Heyford. In April 1938, it moves to Egypt. After the outbreak of World War II and the entry of Italy into the fighting in North Africa, it attacks targets in Libya. In March 1941, he moves to Greece to assist Allied troops and after their defeat, he returns to Egypt via Crete, where he fights in the North African desert after replenishing his forces. By January the following year, she is transferred to India and attacks Japanese targets in Burma until the end of the war. On 15 October 1945, it is disbanded.
In the post-war period it is activated twice as a transport unit. Firstly on 1 September 1946 at Aqir base in Palestine by renumbering 620 Squadron, where it operates until 1 April 1947. On 1 May of the same year it is reestablished at Fairford and operates there until its disestablishment on 1 September 1948.
The last chapter in the unit's history began on 22 July 1959 at Mepal in the UK as a unit armed with Thor tactical missiles, and its existence ended on 10 July 1963.
