As a result of losses, the Polish Bomber Air Force had to be reorganized. On 31 March 1943, it was decided to disband the 301st Squadron. The following day it was removed from Bomber Command and on 7 April it was officially disbanded. The four crews were transferred to 138 Squadron for special duties, where together with the three already active Polish crews they formed Polish C Squadron (also referred to as 301 Squadron in some and official Polish material). The rest of the personnel were split between 300th and 305 squadrons.

After the occupation of Tunisia, "C" Squadron of 138 Squadron was moved to the local airfield Sidi Amor for the shorter distance to Poland. In December it moved to Italy to an airfield near Brindisi.
Pos.
Flights over Poland were organized by the staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army in cooperation with the SOE (Special Operations Executive), which dealt with spec. Operations in the occupied territories and on whose orders the Air Ministry carried out operational flights. However, for various reasons, their number never reached the required numbers.
