In February he was of Polish airmen, who have been to Britain evacuated at the turn of the years 1939/1940, selected by the staff for the first Polish bomber squadron and started with the training. Lost 5 pilots of the fallen in the operational years and 3 during their training years.

Until mid-March, the squadron was grounded by the waterlogged area of the airfield. After conditions improved, however, it began to attack targets in Germany and occupied Europe with great intensity. On the night of 23-24 March, it made its first raid on Berlin. It flew 872 operational sorties for 4,691 hours. It lost 23 airmen killed and 14 captured, while two others managed to escape capture and return to the UK.

Squadron continued its raids on targets in Germany, occupied Europe and also in Italy. Since may, when she attended the raid, thousands of bombers on Cologne (operation MILLENNIUM), has also begun to consider the minefields along the coasts of Europe and at the entrances to the occupied ports.

At the beginning of the year has a squadron because of the huge losses a critical shortage of crew (only three) and the aircraft (only eight). Yet continue to undertake air strikes mainly in the ruhr region and zaminovává ports. From the beginning of the year squadron "B" continues in the training of the Lancasterech, squadron "And" still operates on the Wellingtonech mainly in minování ports. 1. march, after moving to a new base, started with the training of the whole squadron and already 18. April took the first operating years on new machines at the railway station in the French Rouen. 1. June has also been a reorganisation of the unit. For a temporary lack of Polish of the advances was the squadron's "B" accompanied by british crews and the Polish crew have created a fleet of "And". This state of affairs lasted until the beginning of September, when the squadron once again become fully Polish. In June, they took part in raids in support of the alien troops, with 13. June took the first day's raid. In the range of from 24. June to 19. August, however, the squadron suffered heavy losses (lost thirteen of the crew) and was temporarily withdrawn from operations. After the completion crew operates in addition to the raids on Germany also attacks on the island Welcheren near Antwerp, from which the Germans are blocking this port, and also attack the attacking German troops in the Ardennes.
Take 961 operating flights in the length of 4536 hours. Lost 96 killed and 3 captured pilots in the operational years, including one killed by the Germans. In the accidents died 7 airmen. Fell also the members of the two british crews from the squadron.
