Arises 8. October, 1940 on the base Renfrew as a squadron for cooperation with the Polish ground forces in Scotland. Already at the end of the year will take the first operating years (December 1940), but the whole unit is fully operational it becomes up to the end of the year following (11. November 1941) and with it goes the departure of the british staff. In April 1942 begins with the přezbrojením on the aircraft the Mustang Mk.I and is converted to a tactical reconnaissance unit. The main tasks are becoming reconnaissance flights over France and attacks on ground targets (Rhubarb). In June 1943, moving to the east of England and mainly attacks the enemy vessels from the Netherlands to Západofríské islands.
By early 1944 it was decided to convert it into pure fighter unit and after the rearmament of the Hurricanes provides air defense Edinburgh and the surrounding area. In October came another overkill, this time on the machine the Mustang Mk.III and from December, as part of the 133. wings (133. wing RAF / 133 Polskie Skrzydło Myśliwskie) engages in offensive over western Europe. Up to the end of the war, engaged the remote escort of heavy bombers, escort and protection of aircraft Coastal Command, convoys and also attack ground targets in the enemy rear.
After the signing of the truce is dedicated to training until the dissolution of the 6. January 1947.

From 8. October 1940 to 8. in may 1945, the squadron carried out 1230 combat flights in the length of 3228 hours and in air battles its pilots claimed 4 certainly shot down and 2 damaged enemy aircraft.
