In early 1944, it moves south, becomes part of the 141st Wing2nd TAF (according to other sources, 147th Wing), and becomes involved in preparations for the invasion of Europe. Shortly after the invasion, its mission changes and its main task is to defend British cities against V-1 flying missiles. After this danger has passed, it usually provides protection for the bombers. In January 1945, it moves to Europe, where it mostly attacks ground targets, and ends its war journey in Germany.
