Near the village Modrovka crashed on 17.10.1944 Mosquito FB Mk.VI "Flame Mc Goon" from 418th Squadron RCAF. The aircraft took off from Hunsdon base on 16.10.1944, landed at Saint-Dizier for refuelling and proceeded towards Piešt'any airfield along with another machine piloted by F/L Stan Cotterill, DFC. Their mission was to attack an air unit operating at the local airfield. However, the "Flame Mc Goon" was hit by anti-aircraft fire and made an emergency landing near the River Váh in the vicinity of the village of Brunovce. The crew members - Lt. Stuart May and Lt. Jack Ritch were rescued by cowherd František Martinec.
