Vzniká 7.11.1942 na základně East Moor ve Velké Británii jako těžká bombardovací jednotka tvořená kanadským personálem a až do konce války provádí převážně noční nálety na Německo a okupovanou Evropu. Po válce především přepravuje bývalé válečné zajatce zpět do Velké Británie, kde je 31.5.1946 rozpuštěna. Během 2. světové války byla jednotka součásti RCAF, ale podléhala velení a operační kontrole RAF (britského Královského letectva) pod označením No. 429 (RCAF) Squadron RAF.
